Big Update, PVP is on! Also game looks a lot nicer






Finally 0.6 is out!
Basically, the whole battle UI has been redesigned.
Two humans can now play against each other!
It's been a long road since I resumed development around May 2024, a year ago.
It began with Tournament Mode and a new Team Selection.
Then I made a huge refactor so that the game supported AI x AI combat. (Not "generative AI", mind you! Just the regular, old-fashioned bot gameplay).
Then, I redesigned the whole geomancy system. And now, finally, we have PVP. The new geomancy system can really shine now, as two players can use their gems simultaneously, synergizing their effects,
I wish I could say there's no engineering challenge left, that all I have left now is just working on illustrations and Story Mode.
But the game's AI still can't use gems, and it can't react and adapt to gems used by the player either.
Well, fixing that is not trivial. I'll have to think and really build a new architecture for bot decision-making. It may prove to be a lot of work (if anything, because there are 16 figures, and I must teach AI not only to react to the figures, but also using them, which is a separate feature from a engineering standpoint).
Story mode will demand the AI can at least *react* to geomantic figures. But the tournament mode would be a lot cooler if AI could also *use* gems, too.
I confess being kinda tired from the development of this game. It would be refreshing if I could focus entirely on illustration, animation and story at this point. Also, having new illustrations would enable me to start an actual marketing campaign so that I have more than 01 player.
Maybe I'll just take another break. I've been hoping to devote some time to delve into Godot!
But first, as is the case with all major releases, it's bug fixing time :)
